ParAvion Tow & Paramotor Club:

Over the years many of our newly qualified students have asked us to start a club so that they could continue flying with us. The ParAvion Club has now grown into a small, but very active club with around fifty members.

Fly with the best - ParAvion Paragliding

Currently, membership is only open to people that have trained (or are under training) with ParAvion. If you didn't, but would still like to join us then let us know and we'll put your name on our reserve list. As soon as a place becomes available we will let you know.

Download a Club Membership Form (here) - for option 3 you will need to talk to our CFI.

So, if you are (this is what hill pilots have said to us):

  • Struggling to get off the hill and into a decent climb.
  • Fed up with being pushed out of 'your' thermal when the crowds push in.
  • Looking for a friendlier club 'feel'.
  • Fed up with 'non-members' crowding out the sites you pay for.
  • Looking for a little more coaching and support than you're currently getting.
  • Need coaching for Pilot and Advanced Pilot exams.
  • Fed up with walking back up the hill when you bomb out.

Or (this is what paramotor pilots have said to us):

  • Struggling with navigation and planning for XC flying.
  • Need coaching for Pilot and Advanced Pilot exams.
  • Want help with setting and achieving flying tasks.
  • Fed up with flying on your own.
  • Looking for a friendlier club 'feel'.
  • Looking for a little more coaching and support than you're currently getting.

Well, look no further; ParAvion has all the answers for you - join our Flying Club and be amazed at how quickly your flying ability and XC regularity improves.

Insurance

All pilots must have third party liability and personal accident insurance. The best value in our opinion is with SportsCover Direct Insurance. Annual cover costs a little over fifty pounds and that will give you ten thousand pounds worth of accident cover and two million pounds worth of liability cover. Obviously, if you spend a little more on the premium you'll get a higher level of cover.

BHPA qualified members are welcome to fly with us, but they must still take out personal accident cover as above because the BHPA policy only covers them for third party liability.

Membership Option 1:

For pilots with their own equipment; membership is only £60.00 per year paid by standing order at £5.00 a month plus a £25.00 Joining Fee. You will then pay just £2.50 per flight with a minimum daily fee of £10.00. You will be expected to have your own radio and tow release (these are available for hire on a daily basis until you buy your own).

Membership Option 2:

For pilots wanting to use ParAvion equipment (always less than a year old); membership is only £120.00 per year paid by standing order at £10.00 a month. Plus a £50.00 Joining Fee.

Then for only £10.00 per flight with a minimum daily fee of £50.00; a glider, a harness (with regularly re-packed reserve parachute), a tow bridle and a radio will be available for your use.  This will save you the cost of buying your own - around £3,000.00 to £4,000.00 so it's incredibly good value.

This option has been requested by students many times over the years, so we decided to run it for a trial perid. The idea is to allow you more time to decide whether paragliding is really the sport for you - before you spend money on buying your own equipment.

Membership Option 3 (subject to availability):

This option is for Paramotor Pilots involved in our share scheme. As Paramotor units can be a little expensive for the newer pilot (as you will have just purchased the rest of your equipment) we are able to offer you a share option until you can either a) afford to buy your own or b) decide paramotoring is not for you; which means you won't have wasted £5,000.00 - you will only have lost £500.00. Even if you sold your £5,000.00 motor in 'as new' condition you will have lost at least £1,000.00 in depreciation (probably more).

Fly with the best - ParAvion Paragliding

Again, this has been another regularly requested option, so we have decided to try it to see if it will work - you can be one of our 'founder members' if you join us. Hundreds of flying clubs (GA & Microlight) around the country run similar schemes.

For a cost of only £1,000.00 we will allow you to fly one of our Bailey Paramotors and pay an hourly rate of only £25.00 per hour (including fuel) to fly it. You may not take the paramotor away from our airfield other than for XC flights and these must be out and return.

How it works:

A new Bailey Paramotor costs around £5,000.00. The school pays for a 20% share and retains ownership of the paramotor, but you will also 'own' a 20% share that you can later sell if you want to, but the share must only be sold back to ParAvion.

The share value will depreciate by 25% directly after purchase and a further 25% after the first year. It will then be valued at £500.00 and will depreciate no further.

You will be expected to pay £10.00 per month by standing order towards insurance and maintenance in addition to your club membership of £5.00 per month.

You will need to have your own wing (certified for paramotoring), but the paramotor will have its own harness and a regularly re-packed reserve parachute fitted.

Membership of either option will entitle all of our pilots to the following AMAZING BENEFITS:

  • Free tuition/coaching for all Pilot and Advanced Pilot flying tasks.
  • Free training to become a Club Coach.
  • Free training to become a Winch Operator (normally £500.00).
  • Free use of demo wings to test fly.
  • 50% discount on a paramotor course (share holders only).
  • 10% discount on any new paraglider.
  • 10% discount on all parachute repacks and glider inspections.
  • 10% discount on all ParAvion shop goods.
  • You will have first refusal to purchase used club wings and ex demos at huge discounts - these will be replaced every few months.
  • A minimum of three spaces for club fliers will be available every day.
  • Flying on Wednesday and Saturday evenings during June, July, August & September for those unlucky people who can't fly with us during the day.
