The Club Pilot (Hill) Course

Please note: You must have completed an EP and CP (Tow) Course before you can enrol on a CP (Hill) Course.

The Club Pilot (Hill) course will will normally take up to three full flying days to complete (in addition to CP (tow).

Before you can move on to this stage you will need to purchase your own equipment.

The cost of the course is £510.00, but if you buy your equipment from ParAvion we will give you a huge discount of £500.00. Yes - that means you pay only £10.00 for your training!

The average cost of new equipment is:

• Paraglider - £1750.00 to £2,300.00
• Harness - £390.00 - £450.00
• Reserve Parachute £360.00 - £470.00

What About Second-Hand Equipment?

The price of your equipment can be reduced even further by buying an ex-demonstrator or school wing and second-hand harness if you wish (we won't sell unknown secondhand wings because we can never 'truly' know their history).

We buy new training gliders every few months, so there is always a supply of 'almost new' gliders in stock. We will only teach on them for around 25 days before we sell them on. This ensures that we have a good supply of used gliders all the time.

Don't Want To Buy Just Yet?

If you really don’t want to buy a wing just yet, then we will allow you to hire school equipment at a cost of £50.00 per day in addition to the course fee of £510.00. Any additional days training needed will be charged at £120.00 per day.

Trained At Another School?

If you’ve already completed an EP (Hill) course with another school and have your own equipment, then the price of the CP (Hill) course is £1020.00 for six days.

If you've already completed your CP (Tow) with another school and have your own equipment, but now want to convert to hill flying you will only need to pay the £510.00. Please note - we will not teach you on equipment that is more than two years old.

However, in both cases any extra days training you need, will be charged at the standard rate of £170.00 per day instead of the reduced rate £120.00 per day.

If you don't have your own equipment yet, but intend to buy it from us, then we will allow you a 30% discount on your training.

This may sound a bit harsh, but we want to give the best deals to those people who do ALL of their training with us in order to promote loyalty.

In all cases, you will need to discuss it with our CFI before any training will commence. He will want to see any equipment (including recent service/inspection paperwork if it's secondhand) you wish to use BEFORE you can book in any training days.

If for any reason we choose not to offer you training, then there will be a full refund of any monies you have paid.

I've Bought My Bargain Kit From An Internet Auction Site

If this is the case, then you've probably just wasted your money on a load of junk. The only reason paragliding kit is sold like this is because it probably can't be sold anywhere else.

We would not even consider teaching you on equipment bought in this way, so please don't ask.

I Don't Need Expensive Lessons; I Can Teach Myself (Or My Mate Will Teach Me For Free)

Of course you can! Sadly, lots of dead, crippled or badly broken people have said the same thing in the past. Just how much is your life worth to you and your family?

Reserve Parachutes

You may think a reserve parachute is unnecessary, but we at ParAvion will NOT give you a CP (hill) rating unless you have one. This is not a BHPA requirement, but we think it would be irresponsible of any instructor to let you fly outside of the school environment without one.

Do You Have What It Takes?

Only truly dedicated students will achieve Club Pilot (Hill) because it requires a high level of commitment and exceptional patience with UK weather.

At ParAvion, we work very hard to establish and nurture a 'true community' of friends. We have hundreds of past students that are still faithful to us and keep on coming back to us for new equipment, foreign holidays, advanced training and just general advice.

We will always beat the competition - not by undercutting them or making a loss (like most schools will), but by giving you the BEST service and training package you could ask for.

How Do I Pay For A CP (Hill) Course?

The option to purchase a CP (Hill) Course is not available on-line. You will need to discuss your training and payment options (amongst other things) with our Chief Flying Instructor before he will allow you to commence your CP (Hill) training (not everyone has what it takes).
