One Day Taster more details
If you're not sure if paragliding is the sport for you and you would just like to try it, we run a One Day Taster Course. As its name suggests, the course is designed to give you an introduction to the sport of paragliding.
The Taster Day is the first day of our EP course, so once you have completed this course you can move on the next stage; an EP course if you want to.
This price includes one day's BHPA membership (£10).

The Elementary Pilot Course more details
Please note: You must purchase (preferably complete) a Taster Day before you can start an EP Course, because the Taster Day is the first day of the EP course.
Most students achieve their EP within four days of training. Achieving EP rating simply passes you 'fit for further training' and qualifies you to enrol on the Club Pilot course. This price includes a free Lazer 'B-Cool' helmet for you to keep. If you want to, you can upgrade it to a different type and just pay the difference.
| EP Course £510.00 | |
| Taster + EP £690.00 |
The Club Pilot (Tow) Course
Please note: You must complete both a Taster Day and an EP course before you can start a CP (Tow) Course.
Building on the skills that you gained on your EP course, you will learn how fly in stronger wind and to plan your flight in such a way that you can land back where you took off from and easily within 10 metres of a target. You will learn how to deliberately collapse and recover your glider in order to prepare you for flying in slightly rougher air than we will allow you to fly in at school level. You will also learn fast descent manoeuvres that will enable you to land a little sooner than you would in straight gliding flight.
At some time during the course you will be expected to attend at least four hours of Ground School for lectures which will go into much greater detail on the subjects of Air Law, Principles of Flight, Meteorology, General Airmanship, Emergency Procedures and Instability. You will also be encouraged to read up on these subjects in preparation for your CP exam. Reading material will be provided at no extra cost, but Ground School will be charged at £20.00 per hour.
Once qualified to this level, you may then fly with us (on tow only) as a club member for only £3.00 per tow on any day that we are operating. You will also be able to join any other tow club you may wish to and fly for a similar price. If you've chosen not to buy your own equipment, you can rent ours for and additional £25.00 per day (only when flying with us).
| CP (Tow) Course £850 .00 | |
| Taster, EP & CP Course £1,540.00 |
Winch (Tow) Endorsement Course
This one/two day conversion course is for people that already have a CP (hill) rating and have more than ten hours airtime.
It will consist of a minimum of ten high flights on the winch.
You will need to have all your own equipment (with a DHV1 or DHV1/2* glider suitable for towing). We will supply a tow yoke and radio for you to use.
This will give you a BHPA Winch Endorsement.
*If you fly a high performance (DHV2+) wing, we can rent you a DHV1 glider for an extra £25.00
| Winch Endorsement | £195 |
The Club Pilot (Hill) Course more details
Once you have qualified as a CP (Tow), you can then undertake hill flying training. This takes around four more days to familiarise you with the differences between hill and tow training and to teach you the art of soaring (staying airborne for hours at a time). You will also have to master the art of 'Reverse Launching' that you were taught the basics of whilst tow training.
The option to purchase a CP (Hill) course is not available on-line. You will need to discuss your training and equipment purchase options (among other things) with our Chief Flying Instructor before he will allow you to commence your CP (Hill) training (not everyone has what it takes).
The cost of the course is £510.00, but if you buy your equipment from ParAvion we will give you a huge discount of £500.00 - yes, the course will only cost you £10.00. Please note; this offer is only available to people who have completed ALL of their training with ParAvion.
The average cost of equipment is:
• Paraglider - £1850.00 to £2,300.00
• Harness - £390.00 - £450.00
• Reserve Parachute £360.00 - £470.00
The price of your equipment can be reduced even further by buying an ex-demonstrator or school wing and second-hand harness if you wish (we won't sell unknown secondhand wings because we can never 'truly' know their history).
We buy new training gliders every few months, so there is always a supply of 'almost new' gliders in stock. We will only teach on them for around 25 days before we sell them on. This ensures that we have a good supply of used gliders all the time.
BHPA 'Pilot' Rating & Beyond
Once you have completed the Club Pilot (Hill) course, you automatically become a member of our club. When you have gained the necessary practical flying experience, simply come back to our Ground School for your theory needs. We run regular training and exam sessions for BHPA Pilot, Advanced Pilot and Paramotor ratings.
You may also be invited to join us on one of our many foreign flying holidays. Click on Skygypsy Tours (our holiday club). On this link you will also find details of advanced courses and tandem flying.
